Diabetes ~ Frustrating & Unpredicatable

Dr. Farquar, a local specialist in the field of Diabetes, pens an article in the paper urging us to sit up and take notice:
Canada, along with the the rest of the world, is experiencing an epidemic of Diabetes, financially described as an economic tsunami. The estimated cost to Canada is $12 billion per year, which has health economists stating it will bankrupt our healthcare system. Farquar states that the reality is the amount of dollars spent on treating Diabetes complications (heart attack, stroke, kidney failure, etc) needs to be spent on earlier treatment and education programs.
Diabetes can decrease life expectancy by 10 to 15 years. With this in mind, self management becomes key to the disease.
We are urged to pay attention to the quiet arrival of this wave of disease. It may change the shape of our future world.
